M&T Bank Makes $100,000 Corporate Gift to American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund

BUFFALO, N.Y.-- Sept. 13, 2001 -- Bank To Accept Community Donation at All Branches; Provides Other Support to American Red Cross The American Red Cross, Greater Buffalo Chapter and M&T Bank announced today that M&T will provide a $100,000 corporate gift to support the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund in the wake of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

M&T also encouraged employee donations by establishing a limitless dollar-for-dollar matching fund, and has opened its more than 470 branch network to accept contributions from the community.

Each and every member of our community feels the impact of this tragedy. The M&T family is deeply saddened by the countless personal losses which resulted from this act of terrorism, Robert G. Wilmers, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of M&T Bank said. We are working on a number of levels to provide financial and hands-on assistance to the most affected communities through this partnership with the American Red Cross. In addition, M&T is working with the American Red Cross in its ongoing efforts to coordinate blood drives and the bank is encouraging its employees to volunteer in the relief effort.
