Biography

Mr. Geisel serves as Vice Chairman of M&T’s Board of Directors and as its lead independent director. He is the retired former Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Provident Bankshares Corporation and Provident Bank. He previously served as Chairman of the Board of Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland having served on its Finance, Governance, Compensation and Executive Committees. Mr. Geisel is a former director of Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake and served as its Chairman and on the Executive Committee. He is a former director of Annapolis Life Care, Inc., a continuing-care retirement community operator in Annapolis, Maryland, where he served as a member of its Finance and Audit Committee. Mr. Geisel is also a member of the Budget and Finance Committee of the Baltimore Community Foundation. He is the past Chair of the Finance Committee of Urban Teachers, a non-profit teacher preparation program in Baltimore, Maryland.
